Kenyon Dixon is turning a complicated part of human behavior into the center of his latest R&B project. Released independently on July 24, Ego Ruins Everything is a 21-track concept album built around ego, relationships, personal choices, and the consequences that can follow.
In discussing the project following its release, Dixon described the album as a way to examine how ego can shape decisions and interfere with personal growth. The songs move through different emotional situations, with recurring interludes helping connect the larger story.
The Los Angeles singer-songwriter chose to make the album without featured vocalists, keeping the focus on his own perspective and musical direction. Tracks such as Talk You Through It, No Jodeci, Real Good and The Man help illustrate different sides of the concept.
The release arrives during a period of increased recognition for Dixon. His recent collaboration with Terrace Martin, Come As You Are, earned a Grammy nomination, adding to a growing list of career milestones as Dixon continues building his catalog as an independent R&B artist.
